Alvin A. Rutledge

Alvin A. Rutledge is the founder and former President of the Firm. He is a seasoned and skillful litigation and trial attorney specializing in the defense of professional negligence claims, complex litigation, construction liability and indemnity, product liability, fires and explosions, insurance coverage disputes, environmental contamination claims/toxic torts, trucking and transportation litigation, commercial disputes, premises liability and other general liability claims.

Mr. Rutledge has successfully tried hundreds of cases throughout Michigan. He also routinely acts an arbitrator, facilitator and mediator in cases involving personal injuries, professional negligence, product liability and commercial disputes.

Mr. Rutledge is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (Committee on the Quality of Professional Life), Fellows of the State Bar of Michigan and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (a limited membership/invitation only organization).He is also a founder and past Chairman of the Board of Eagle International Associates, Inc., an international association of attorneys specializing in civil litigation defense. In conjunction with Eagle, Mr. Rutledge had made presentations to various groups in the United States, England and France on product liability litigation. He also serves as an evaluator for the Wayne County Case Evaluation Tribunal.

Mr. Rutledge is a Charter member and past President of the Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers, a Charter member of the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel, and a member of the Metropolitan Detroit Bar Association, The Defense Research Institute and the Association of Defense Trial Counsel.

Mr. Rutledge has been peer review rated AV (“Preeminent”) by Martindale-Hubbell for many years. The Firm is also proud to announce that Mr. Rutledge was recently named as a “Top Lawyer” in the areas of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Insurance Litigation by dbusiness Magazine.
